GainExpress
Non-destructive digital moisture meter for fast damp checks in wood, plaster, concrete and other building materials – ideal for UK homes and property inspections.
Non-destructive damp checks for every project
The GainExpress Pinless Digital Moisture Meter lets you detect damp quickly without leaving a single pinhole. Using a high-frequency sensor plate instead of sharp probes, it scans the top layers of wood, plaster, screed and other building materials to give you an instant moisture reading. Perfect for checking skirting boards, door frames, laminate flooring and interior walls in UK homes.
Clear, fast readings you can trust
A large backlit LCD display shows moisture content in real time, backed up by an easy-to-read LED bar graph so you can spot problem areas at a glance. With a wide measuring range from 0–60% and a typical accuracy of ±2%, you get reliable information to support your decisions – whether you are investigating damp patches, assessing timber before painting or checking floors before laying new coverings.
Designed for British homes, landlords and trades
This compact meter is built for everyday use on site or around the house. Multiple material modes help you tune readings for wood, plasterboard and masonry commonly found in UK properties, while adjustable alarm thresholds let you set your own “too damp” limit. A data hold function, auto power-off and low-battery indicator make it practical for regular checks and surveys.
Ready to use out of the box
Supplied with batteries, a protective cap and a clear English user manual, the GainExpress Pinless Moisture Meter is ready to go in minutes. With a 2-year UK warranty, local support and fast delivery from our UK warehouse, it is a smart, reliable addition to any DIY kit, landlord toolbox or professional surveyor’s bag.

- Use the hold function if needed to freeze a reading, and set an alarm threshold if you want an audible alert when moisture exceeds your chosen level.

Customer Reviews
I used the GainExpress pinless moisture meter to check damp around a bay window in our Edwardian flat. The backlit LCD and bar graph made it very clear where the readings spiked, and I loved that it did not leave pinholes in the freshly painted plaster.
Sarah Mitchell, London
Ordered on a Tuesday and it arrived from the UK warehouse the next day. I have been using it to test laminate flooring and skirting boards in rental properties, and the different material modes give me much more confidence than my old basic meter.
James Henderson, Manchester
As a building surveyor, I carry several instruments, but this pinless meter has become my go-to for quick initial scans of plasterboard and timber door frames. The 0–60% range and hold function are genuinely useful on site and the unit feels robust enough for daily professional use.
Dr. Emily Clarke, Edinburgh
Very handy for checking decking and an old timber shed. The only minor downside is that you need a reasonably flat surface for the sensor plate, so it is a bit awkward on rounded edges, but on flat boards it gives clear, repeatable readings.
Oliver Wright, Bristol
I previously used a cheap pin-type moisture meter from a DIY chain, but it left tiny holes in the door frames. This GainExpress pinless version is miles better – no marks at all and the alarm threshold feature makes it much easier to spot damp patches quickly.
Rebecca Thompson, Leeds
I bought this mainly to check concrete floors before laying vinyl tiles. The depth of measurement is fine for my needs and the auto power-off is useful, though I wish the manual included a few more UK-specific examples for typical readings. Overall, excellent value for money.
David Patel, Birmingham
For the price, this is a brilliant bit of kit. I used it to track down a small leak around our patio doors and the moisture readings clearly showed where the problem was worst. The batteries were included and the 2-year UK warranty helped me feel confident buying online.
